The Case for Kasumi in Mass Effect 2

kek | April 22, 2010

Unlike everyone who was hating on the fact that they were paying $7 for 1 hour worth of gameplay, I actually fully enjoyed this DLC.  Although Kasumi was not as fleshed out like some of the other crew members aboard the Normandy, she is radically fun to play with.

Got invited to the Xbox Live Rewards Program

kek | November 3, 2009

Yesterday, I received my official invite into the pilot program for Xbox Live Rewards.  The rewards can be viewed through this chart.

It seems to be an opportunity to get more Microsoft points for the things I normally do on Xbox Live to begin with.  The amount seems very small, but I suppose the opportunity to get 5% back on all your Xbox Live purchases will add up (especially if you buy Rock Band or Guitar Hero tracks on a frequent basis).   If you are a heavy Xbox Live Gold user who makes tons of purchases, this program has the potential for one to make back that monthly ~$4 membership fee via Xbox Live points.

Are we ready for a disk-less console future?

kek | June 2, 2009

In an old post, I commented about the possibility of a UMD-less PSP.  Prior to E3, it seems like there is a leak on Sony’s new UMD-less PSP, aka PSP Go.  Microsoft also announced that they will start offering Xbox 360 games on demand starting in August over Xbox Live.  The launch on demand games includes Bioshock, Oblivion, and Mass Effect.

This will definitely cut down on distribution costs for the publishers by offering it directly to the consumer.  I wonder how the big-box retailers feel about this move.  E3 is shaping up to be pretty epic.

Thoughts on in-game advertising

kek | March 12, 2009

As I was playing around with my avatar on Xbox Live today, I was thinking how much more information Microsoft must know about me through my avatar customization and download preferences.  Depending on how I dress my avatar, I would get relevant ads from Nike about its latest running shoes or from AT&T about their latest broadband offerings.  I just noticed that the ads change depending on the time of day and week that I go on Xbox Live.

Xbox Live Card that costs more than my rent

kek | February 15, 2009

Obviously there is something terribly wrong with this.  Could someone be trying to launder money?

The seller must be doing something illegal...
