Gamecrush: Online escort service or just another dating site?

kek | April 3, 2010

So I probably should’ve seen this coming.  Actually, I am disappointed in myself for not creating something like this by now.  Gamecrush.com sets up online game dates” to play with girls.  Guys are Players, and girls are Playdates.  Players pay to play with Playdates, and the fee is $6.60 for 10 minutes.  Pretty expensive to chat up with a girl you may or may not like for 10 minutes.

What am I playing this weekend?

kek | October 23, 2009

This is the first weekend that I almost have nothing planned (besides meeting up with friends).  As I will be in New York City next weekend for Halloween, I suppose this will be the weekend that I will hopefully finish a game or two before I start opening new ones (*cough*Uncharted 2*cough*).

Here is the list (in no particular order):

1) Get alternate ending sequences in Muramasa: Demon Blade

2) Finish Halo: ODST on Legenedary with some friends

3) Finish Lost Odyssey (I’m on Disc 4, and I still can’t bring myself to finish it.  My former roommate can attest to that.)

4) Finish Fallout 3 (Hell… maybe I should just buy the GOTY edition and trade in my old version.  The extra DLC may be worth it.)

5) Random PSP RPG games (I have too many to note here.  Just like Point #3, I’m literally like 2 dungeons/places away from the end.)

Maybe after I finish these games, I could actually trade them in to buy the games I want in the coming weeks (e.g. Dragon Age and COD:MW2).

Where to get Halo 3: ODST without paying full price

kek | September 22, 2009

Video game software sales must be hurting if retail stores are willing to offer these deals.  Below are the top two deals.  Thanks to slickdeals and CAG on consolidating.

Toys R Us, in stores only, has the game + $20 gift card + action figure for $60.

Alternatively, Amazon has the game +$10 future video game purchase credit for $51.  It includes free shipping and no tax for most states.

Considering there are tons of maps that I would play, this game seems to be a fairly good deal, especially on its first day.

Why “Exclusive” will not exist in video game software

kek | April 8, 2009

I hate April Fool’s Day.  Luckily, I was not a target of April Fool’s jokes in my personal life; however, I am very wary of news that come out on this day.  Here comes Namco-Bandai announcing that its Xbox 360-exclusive Tales of Vesperia will now be ported to the PS3.  An extra character in the form of a pirate girl named Patty Fleur (see below) will be a playable character.  There will be extra side quests, cut scenes, and full voiceover soundtrack for the game.

I am a multi-console owner, and this made me pretty frustrated.   Nonetheless, I am a rational consumer knowing that most video game publishers are looking to make money.  As development costs are at all-time industry highs, it make sense for publishers to be able to reach as many consumers as possible.  It does not make sense for the publishers and developers to restrict themselves to one console or platform.   The term “exclusive” in the video game industry means nothing more than limited monopoly by one console.  The next Final Fantasy game that was originally exclusive to Sony Playstation will have an Xbox 360 version for North America.  Original Xbox 360 exclusives such as Bioshock and Mass Effect got ported over to PC and/or Ps3.

It would be nice if Namco-Bandai gave (or sold) the extra content coming to the PS3 as an update or DLC through Xbox marketplace in the future.
