kek | November 22, 2009

There have been a number of marriage proposals done online, but this one was quite surprising.  Good Job Dealnews for letting this happen!

The Saboteur Turns Gold

kek | November 21, 2009

RIP Pandemic Studios from EA.  I was actually looking forward to playing “The Saboteur” from the now closed studio.  It does look like the game will come out but with little fanfare from EA.  As much as new IPs can be very risky and nonprofitable, it is important for EA and other big publishers to continue supporting smaller studios.  Who knows what the next Modern Warfare or GTA will be unless you take the risk to begin with?

Finished Uncharted 2

Wow, it’s been a long time since I have been satisfied with a video game from start to finish.  Now it’s time to attempt hard mode.

T-Mobile is rolling out big guns

kek | November 5, 2009

Despite yesterday’s snafu with its network, it looks like T-Mobile is rolling out 7.2 Mbps 3G service.  Randomly performed a speedtest on Mobile Speed Test, and my download speed is coming up at 7272 Kps for the smallest file size version.  I tested 2 mb download, and I came out around 4.5 Mbps which is not too shabby.  It’s a good sign they are rolling out a faster 3G network early because T-Mobile took way too long to roll out its 3G service to begin with.  If only I can keep my corporate discount with the new unlimited plans, some new phones (e.g. Blackberry 9700 or GSM version of Motorola DROID), and the same high-quality customer service, then T-Mobile may keep me as a customer for a longer period of time.  It would be even better if T-Mobile announced they’re joining the LTE bandwagon and actually bring 4G service at the same time as the other players.

Got invited to the Xbox Live Rewards Program

kek | November 3, 2009

Yesterday, I received my official invite into the pilot program for Xbox Live Rewards.  The rewards can be viewed through this chart.

It seems to be an opportunity to get more Microsoft points for the things I normally do on Xbox Live to begin with.  The amount seems very small, but I suppose the opportunity to get 5% back on all your Xbox Live purchases will add up (especially if you buy Rock Band or Guitar Hero tracks on a frequent basis).   If you are a heavy Xbox Live Gold user who makes tons of purchases, this program has the potential for one to make back that monthly ~$4 membership fee via Xbox Live points.
